If you are applying for a mortgage or renting a property, you will sometimes be asked for a Tax Overview. This is a record of whether or not you have paid your personal tax, as per your self-assessment tax return. You cannot get an Tax Overview if you do not complete self assessment tax returns (Not all directors are required to complete self-assessment personal tax returns. To find out if you need to complete one, please click here).

There are 3 ways to obtain your Tax Overview:

1. If you have a Government Gateway account, you'll be able to download it from there.

2. You can call HMRC on 0300 200 3310 and they'll post you a copy. To do this, you'll need your NI number and Self-Assessment Unique Taxpayers Reference / UTR.

3. We can apply to add you to our self assessment portal, and then we'll be able to download a copy for you from the HMRC website. To do this we request an authorisation code from HMRC to access your records. They post the code to you and then you email it to us. This usually takes about a week.

If you choose the 3rd option, please send us an email including your post code.
